Mumbai
hi people, so its been a week since I was on to you all so I'll give you a quick rundown on what has been happening. After the Varenasi disaster we decided to do a bit of sightseeing around Kanpur. Its not renowned for its beauty but myself and Colin had a ball going around the markets. We got talking to this guy at a street side tailor shop and he was throwing out material with lightning speed. The prices were gobsmacking. The cheapest suit would have cost us around 40 Euro. If we weren't travelling for a year i would be buying so much stuff. this country is just so cheap. A couple of days later we got a train down to Mumbai (Bombay). All in all it took us over 40 hours to get from Kanpur to Mumbai. It was a monster journey. Mumbai is a really cool city. It is so much more cosmopolitan than anywhere else we have been to. The area that we were staying in was kinda posh. There were verry few beggers and loads of professioonal type people. There were loads of stalls selling "giggly giggly" movies. The people here are lovely. I really can't get over the number of people who will stop you in the middle of the street to know where we are from and how we are enjoying India. They all want to know what is the best thing about India. Unfortunately on the second day in Mumbai Colin got a wicked headache in the mid day and so he went to bed and I wandered around the city for a bit. I met this old man who wanted to go for a beer and chat. He was an old lecturer and was great to talk to. I'm loving this country. The people are fantastic and the sights are just amazing. I love just walking down the streets and taking in all the sights, sounds and smells (except when we walk past a piss corner, the name given to a wall that everyone uses to piss up against). The people piss and spit everywhere. Its disgusting, and in this heat the smell can at times be a little overpowering. But hey, you gotta take the good with the bad. You just have to accept it. we will be heading off from Mumbai in a while. I'll let you know how things progress. Bye for now.
